New FRUA forum

G'day all,

A new FRUA forum has been set up to promote FRUA and it's modules. There is even a section devoted to DC which is empty at the moment.

I was checking that out yesterday.

But, I failed to notice the DC section...I was just reading posts and not exploring.

I do have it bookmarked, however and plan on dropping in this morning.

If we can get some of the FRUA to look at DC again...well, that would be nifty; especially if they all happen to be C++ coders specializing in MFCs and Visual Studio.

Edited to add: I'm now a member of the forum and have two posts already.

There are three sub-forums in the DC area including one for design questions, one for module reviews and one for troubleshooting. The other forum areas are about evenly split between parts for FRUA and parts for more generic discussion. I'm guessing that one could get by with discussing the Gold Box games there if you start the thread so as to refer to FRUA.

Super FRUA designer Ben Sanderfer is the creator and admin of the forums. He's been very obliging to members adding and tweaking the forums based on suggestions. But, more importantly, he has a preview, with screenshots of his upcoming module that looks to be very Gold Box-esque, but knowing Ben, it will be better.

Hmm - Ben sounds like just the kind of talented and hard-working guy we need to make games for DC as well

Ben is one of the FRUA greats. He has made s couple modules that out-Gold-Box the Gold Box games. You can check out his insights in the various UANLs in the aptly named "Gold Box Corner". He had retired from FRUA for a while, but seems to be back in a big way.

When he's not FRUAing, he run a PW (Persistent World) for Neverwinter Nights 2 (I think it's 2, it might be 1).

I don't think he'll do anything for DC, not until we've reached version 1.0 that is. But, he is supportive of DC.

Sounds like he has a lot of great FRUA mods out there! His new one (with the screenshots) looks great, too.

If you go to the FRUA arghive - http://frua.rosedragon.org/index.htm - you'll see that he's put out quite a few. I recommend playing them all.
