Anyone know a good CPU temperature guage download?

I have my own that comes with the motherboard I have in my system but I need the diagnostic tool to test another person's PC who thinks her PC is getting too hot. I've surged through CNet and did not see the right download for me.

Anyone using one they like?

I use SpeedFan v 4.35. I think I DL'd it from PCWorld downloads, but just try Googleing it. It monitors core temp and fan speeds, among other things.

I use Everest personally, core temp GPU internal and external.

Larry, when using that OS from Redmond, this is the best in class for what you are looking for. As well, with the addition of the widgets they have updated as well. If for conversational purposes, this machine were to boot that OS, this program would be booted.

Just get in there and put your tongue on it. The tongue is very sensitive and will give the best feel for how hot it is running.

You can't trust all that software junk these days!

..clean the dust off first though.

may I ask, why does the user assume they are overheating, pc shutting off sporadically, slow performance?

She took it to a place and paid them $60 for a diagnostics of why her PC was shutting down whenever she attempted to print or tried running a music program she has that runs thru MIDI. (she's a music teacher). They told her that they looked at it and had no idea, but they still charged her. I found the problem and it was not heat related, but I wanted to prove to her that it was not heat. I'll explain later...I have to go back to work from break.

Edit: Okay, so I'm back to finish the story. So I open the thing up and see that she's running XP on 1 stick of 256MB. I laugh and tell her that I will set her up with more memory, so I go to Intrex and pick up a Gig for $40 total. I also looked at the shabby job somebody did on coating the processor, so I greased it with some of my Arctic Sil ver 5. I ran all the good cleaning programs for spyware, virii and misc. Now I have her system booting faster than she's ever dreamed possible and there are no more black-outs. I would love to call the company in Goldsboro and laugh at them for their incompetence.
