Manikus, have you compiled the source code? The reason I ask is that I have a few questions about it. I had gotten some error codes and if I resolve this then even with my pending downtime I could play with sourcecode.
Bear in mind that I am new to C++ as well as MicroSoft Visual Studio Visual C++ 2005. So this may be incorrect, but I had a reference to a "windows.h" header file and I was wondering if this file was part of the MFC; and that perhaps I needed to DL it? (the incorrect part is that I'm making an assumption and as far as I know VisualC++ has the MFC included in it). ST

If you have the standard version of VS2005, it has all the files you need.
There are several threads on this topic in the Yahoo group, as well as a couple here and there is a bit about this in the F.A.Q. While I can compile the code, the real help will come from folks like Tarlanon, LurchBrick, Paul Stevens and CocoaSpud. ![]() |

How about the VS2005 Express? I would have gotten the regular, but I like the Diet VS-lite with one calorie
![]() All jokes aside, I'll see if there is anything that the posts have on this and post on Yahoo as well. Thanx ST

There are advantages to the standard and pro VS downloads. I don't remember the 2005 one being that much bigger, plus I get full support from Microsoft*.
Plus, I like the notion of getting for free things that Bill Gates' company charges for. ![]() * of course with MS, full is never full, they have another tier or three above what you get, but there is pretty good online support. |

Okay, take a deep breath.
![]() Read the instructions on the page, b/c the vast majority of colleges and universities aren't on the list (mine isn't). It requires a different path and a slightly longer verification process that was like five or six hours in my case (I think it sayys something like 24 hours). It may be an issue that you are not taking classes at the moment, I guess it depends on how quickly your school purges it's databases. ![]() If you can't get it now, you know that it's there to be had when you're taking classes again. ![]() Also, as I have stated here and Paul and I have talked about at some length on the Yahoo list, we need a lot of help that doesn't involve programming. We need people making demo designs for the bug list. We have the Quality Assurance team working on finding bugs in the databases. We need people to use DC and document it's features. There is a lot of stuff that we need that is not programming. It's importnat to note that all of this stuff must be done, so if we wait for Paul and the other coders to do it after the programming is done, we are exponentially increasing the time it takes us to get the next release of DC out the door. Plus, Paul does not want to do the things I've listed above. ![]() So, people, there are lots of ways to help out the Dungeon Craft project without doing a single lick of programming and all of it's important for us to see new releases. Specail thanks to Arminius and Pete Deal who are already helping me out with the database checking. You guys rock! ![]() ![]() ![]() |
