The hack wasn't perfect. IIRC it was something like setting up additional damage for having a weapon in the shield hand slot, but again I don't know for sure.

I recall folks asking about it, I just don't recall it every being done. Not to say that it wasn't...just that I don't recall.

You know something really weird? Now I'VE run into the Level 30 Ranger problem.

It doesn't actually seem to be a problem with the experience table, though; it seems to be hardcoded problem into the engine, and affects every design. Apparently, any fresh generated ranger with a starting exp of 9,001 to 10,000 will be at level 30. Interestingly, it doesn't affect any rangers outside these values, or cleric/rangers at all.

Also, I think the experience level ranges are hardcoded somewhat to an extent. I've tried changing the experience required for levels for rangers and paladins (i.e. level 2 requiring 2500 for rangers and 2300 for paladins), but when generating new characters, they stubbornly insist on being level 2 only after reaching 2251 experience. The same problem happens when I set the threshold lower. (I put 8400 for level 4 rangers, but they still insist on being level 3 when I give them starting experience of level 8400-9000, and only reach level 4 after getting 10,001 experience; and the in-between values, I mentioned earlier...)

The same issues are prevalent when you gain the experience ingame rather than start with it. Thus, if you happen to train your ranger when its experience happens to be between 9,001-10,000, you'll see a massive jump in level...

Too bad we cant cut the class stats out to an editable file. Maybe not a text file due to the ease of altering it.

Well, I think we do want ease of editing. I find doing stuff in DC hard enough as it is with just the texxt formats of the various databases.

When I get home from school, I'll take a look at this, especially since I most likely made the error. (Teach me to pretend I can program...)

Nice to know it's not my fault.

There was a gap in the experience table, which has now been fixed. I know that doesn't help you a whole lot now, but it will be in the next release. If this is a game-stopper, email me and I can do a special build for you.

Oh, it's still your fault, FD. Just Kidding! It's all my fault and as penance I will do a small pic of a ranger and post it soon.
