Both the Shield of Balduran and the Cloak of Mirroring can reflect beholder rays in vanilla SoA.

Then watch as the Beholder casts an Anti-Magic Ray at you...

Spell Shield, Spell Immunities: Abjuration + Necromancy, Death Ward, and Free Action should be enough to protect your Fighter/Mage while he goes and kicks butt.

r u quoting my post?if yes, maybe u dont understand what i mean.what i mean is, u dont have to use all school protection provided by spell immunity, but just only 1 or two schools (i was quoting gangrells post).and yes, that u should use some other spell protection in facing those big eye balls.

Assassin was merely pointing out that all the Spell Immunties in the world will not save you when a Beholder decides to cast Anti-Magic Ray on you and dispel all your protections plus hinder your spellcasting.

As he later typed, you will need Spell Shield to retain all your buffs against Anti-Magic Ray.

If by "ignore" you mean "cast a single Death Spell and ignore their remains," then yes, I'd have to agree with you.

I find the perfect way to kill them is to summon a few fire elementals and then sit back, send in a tank who is buffed up to high heaven with protection spells to finish off the remainder...not that there are many left normally...

I mean Fire Elementals even kill the big bad ass beholder in 2-3 hits...

They're about the only monsters to pop up in the movie

I just found out a nice trick with the Ring of Elemental Mastery, remember it's Elemental Charm ability? You can charm anything with it, even Beholders
