Bioware has Patched NWN1 to 1.69! --Update: Now uploaded most of Waterdeep Docks page

Me? In ages... but I haven't really gotten into EFU since my internet that time was crap.

However, I am having problems with the patch. Now the game is not starting. Ack.

Well, when I press "Play", it shows the NWN logo right, then nothing happens. Nothing. No start, no error whatnot.

I run on Vista, and it is a laptop, GeForce 7150M/ nForce 630i if I am not mistaken.

I was patching NWN via the updater, it updated to 1.63. Then it was having errors with downloading the 1.69. So I decided to install the critical rebuild. I tried it on 1.63 before the final update, and it was starting. AFTER the critical rebuild installation, that's when nothing happens.

This is simple and I apologise if you have already tried it.

I have Vista and could not get NWN1 going. I had to go through the "compatability wizard" several times before it would work at all. Once Vista accepted it I could make a few further tweaks to the settings and it's ok now.

I know! I should have stayed with XP but it's too late now.

Greything: That was a good suggestion. I am new to Vista, and thanks to your advice, I am able to figure out certain applications beyond NWN.

Anyway, I tried the compatibility mode, and it worked. I tried the XP SP2 compatibility. However, when I begin play, everything's black, and the character cannot move. I only see Pavel (the NWN original campaign), the buttons below, the portrait along with their corresponding tabs, etc. But no movement. I only see Pavel and my character...

Okay, a few questions:
1) have you tried turning off the movies (as per other thread)?
2) have you tried running in windowed mode (rather than full-screen) - back in my favourite nwn.ini:

FullScreen=0
AllowWindowedMode=1
3) do you have a dual-core machine (try running on a single core)?
4) what drivers are you using for your graphics card? have you tried rolling back the driver to an earlier incarnation?

Interesting. NWN works fine on windowed mode. Even with the movies on. I tried it without the intro movies it is the same.

That's the only thing I did, and everything seems to be working fine. My drivers are the latest, I think 15. something. I forgot. And yes, this is dual-core, but as mentioned, everything seems to be working fine, so I'll keep you guys posted if anything goes wrong still.

Yay! Glad you're up and running properly.

I know that's how I run my mac version after the last set of updates.

I have observed that it must run on Compatibility Mode.

Everything else seems to work fine. I will try out the original NWN campaign. Once I get organized with everything, I shall then make the proper steps to be able to play EFU.
