Help with Portal

i just finished off Irenicus' dungeon and got the sword of saverok.

my problem is that when i go the teleporter by the dryads to get up to the next floor, i can't use it. i get up to it, click it and nothing happens.

what am i doing wrong?

other portal? i'm guessing that you're all making fun of me and my game is messed up, so i'm re-installing it. maybe that'll help.

And I'm not making fun of you at all. On the first level of Chateu Irenicus, there are two portals. The one you're talking about, the prison area, and another in the top north west corner.

But really, Dundee has this one. Whether you have the key or not decides if you can use a portal. I'm guessing the answer's no, because the key has the "cannot be dropped" flag.

sorry for not responding sooner.

i'm trying to run my bi-annual BG/BG2/ToB fest (patched, unmodded) and find myself depressed that neither Virtual Machine or my Windows 95 partition are getting me anywhere.

i have the portal key (it's stuck in my inventory and as such, is un-removable.). but it doesn't seem to do much good. i still can't get thru.

i don't understand why BG2 is glitching up so badly. i finished the BG run a couple of weeks ago and it ran fine.

if you need more details, let me know and i will provide them. thanks.
