Since FRUA is Forgotten Realms, does that mean that DC is by default?

Um... Well, there is definitely a precedent there due to FRUA But then again, the game engine is more or less standard AD&D (as with FRUA); without maps of the FR world or special FR-only rules in the engine, it does seem like generic AD&D to me. (FR (and Greyhawk) were always somewhat generic, anyway.)

Er, that was an attempt at some humor. After all, He-man was RUINED after Dolf Lungren starred as He-man in that movie. I mean, what was up with that?

Seriously (that means no more He-man rants), I think forgotten Realms is the best commercial campaign I've played with. I have to admit that I've never played with the worlds of GreyHawk, Darksun, Birthright, or Lahnkmar (It was in the legends & lore, so wasn't that a dnd campaign???).

I would be interested in helping out with a collaboration, but I dunno how useful I can be without much time (or any real art skills).

As far as what appears in 1e or 2e, I think the best solution is to include what we want and when it's 1e, we will use that information, but if it's 2e, we use that info.

There was a He-Man movie?!?!?!?! :O

Lankhmar - yeah, that was a campaign, too (interesting roguelike campaign, but a bit small-scale (mostly just the city of Lankhmar, I think).

Forgotten Realms and Greyhawk were sort of similar as generic AD&D campaigns, but FR was always very specific (with lots of material), not leaving much for the DM to decide; Greyhawk was always the opposite (quite a lot was left open for the DM). Also, during the 2e era, I guess that FR was the most widely supported campaign setting.

As for 1e vs. 2e, I think that manikus's approach is fine Changes mostly included:

1. Rule changes to match 2nd Edition (no more monks or half-orcs, bard, ranger, illusionist classes changed, specialty priests/specialty wizards added, etc.)
2. Later, specialty priests were fleshed out more (more abilities, different XP tables, etc.) and new optional classes were added (harper, etc.). The crusader, monk (2e monk), mystic, and shaman were also adapted.
3. Kits were adopted and added to.
4. Changes in story (and maps) - i.e. Zhentil Keep destroyed, Bhaal/Bane/Myrkyl/Leira/etc. killed, new gods Kelemvor/Cyric/etc. appear, old gods reappear (Garagos/Istishia/etc.), etc.

...but most things are basically the same.

When do we want to set this collab? Before the godswar? Before the fall of Zhentil Keep?

Hmm - I think after the Godswar is fine (lots of gods made it interesting after that); I am divided about Zhentil Keep (either way would be fun).

OK, after the godswar and we'll worry about Zhentil Keep when we come to it.

Now, where to start? I will start gathering info from source books, i.e. Drow of the Underdark, etc.

I think I will also do some work on maps to get started someplace.

Hmm, maps sound nice

Not quite sure what to start with - should we choose some locale perhaps? If we want to head into the Underdark (methinks manikus likes the Underdark ) ultimately, is there maybe a surface place close by to an entrance to the Underdark that would work well? Or just some other place that would be a good place to start?

What will this collaboration lead up to?

- A collection of graphics/data?
- An adventure module of some kind?
- Both?

I think we definitely go for the first and hopefully the second will follow at some point.

As for where in the Realms...I don't think we need to worry about that until it's time to work on the mod. I plan on doing several maps, covering as much of Faerun as I can. I'm going to try to do a map of the Underdark, too. Ooh- it would be cool if I could get them at the same scale so I could do an overlay type of thing- just 'cause I've always wondered.
