Do you get a unicorn's horn after defeating the narwhale?

I don't think so, but you do get in trouble with Greenpeace.

...which is another encounter that happens if you take the horn... (Actually, it would be kind of funny to put that in a game... Like, if you have at least 5 horns, they start to attack you here and there...)
Thanks for the comments, guys. ![]() ![]() Re: Art... I dunno why, but one of the things that 2e tended to do was to make dragons, deities, and similar creatures far stronger/bigger. I think that one of the reasons was that they didn't want PCs easily killing off these divine opponents (as might have been the case in 1e). I don't like how they change everything, though... (Asmodeus looked just fine as a moustached guy before.) As for body farms ![]()

I think that not only were the monsters more powerful in 2e, but the PCs as well. I remember this game in high school where two guys that I didn't normally play with wanted to use characters they had from another game. I remember asking if their PCs were high level as this particular adventure was and they responded that they were only mid, so I thought to myself, I would just go easy on them. But, when we started to play, my players were using PCs that were 12 to 14th level which is high for 1e, but these other guys had characters that were in the 30s with at least +5 everything. Plus, the two were jerks (the players not the characters), so it wasn't pretty. Their PCs actually did damage to my PCs for fun, so I got all medieval on their a$$! They encountered 5 kobolds and a gnoll that were really Tiamat and her 5 guardian dragons. As her first action in the battle, Tiamat transported them to the Nine Hells, her realm to be exact. But, somehow only the two PCs and the dragons were taken along with Tiamat...never to be seen again.

Hmm - XP inflation might have had a hand in raising these guys' levels to 30+... Not to mention, 2e has a lot of rules for extra experience/class.
Good job on throwing the boulder on those two kids' PCs, though! ![]()

It would have been okay, if a bit boring for them if they hadn't been jerks.
I've always been more about role playing and thinking than hack 'n slash. Though, with DC it's easier to do a lot of combats b/c the computer does the hard work for you. |

Hmm - you could have given them a "fair" chance, though, by letting Tiamat (and her friends) breathe on them or something - if by a miracle you rolled all 1s for the breath damage and they also managed their saving throws for each, they might have survived!
