Did you read the tutorials that Vedran linked you to? Read them. I have learned a lot of things. For certain boxes you need Near Infinity or Enfinity Explorer. Becuase you need the codes.

Please tell me i dont have to download the program each time i want to use it! the only time i have gotten to attempt to crreate an item is when the box asked if i wished to run the program immediately. otherwise i get the same queries for downloading. this is becoming frustrating!

Also, what does the "range" refer to? I know it is the range of the weapon, but could someone give me a comparison? how is the range measured? i.e. feet, meters, etc.

Range:
Melee weapons have range of 1.
Halberds, spears and 2-h swords have range of 2.
Darts 20.
Sling 40.
Enchanted slings 50.
Short bows 75.
Long bows, Composite bows and Crossbows 100.

Hmmmm... Is that all?

An advice: edit existing items (following the tutorial) prior to creating new ones from scratch.

Your best bet is to start with an item as close to your intended custom item as possible. For instance, if you wanted to make a Ring that could cast Lighting Bolt, a good place to start would be the Ring of Energy. What I do is I open up Shadowkeeper's Item Browser, find the item I want to start from, and say "Extract Item." This puts a copy of the ITM file in the Override folder, and I can then use IEEP to tinker with it to my heart's content.

Just don't forget to rename the item in IEEP, lest you wanna overwrite the existing item. Whoops ! There goes my Wondrous Gloves ahehehe. ....
