Default Wrinkle in Time author, Madeline L'Engle dies

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/09/08/bo...nted=1&_r=2&hp

I read A Wrinkle in Time and the other books in that series several times as a teen and just recently, my husband and a friend and I watched the movie version of A Wrinkle in Time on dvd as my husband had never seen it or read her work.

I just saw this news on my roadrunner page when I opened up my browser. Very sad, I was hoping she'd have a few more books in her....they may have categorized her work as 'children's books' for the most part, but I don't buy it for a minute... I love A Wrinkle in Time - maybe I'm still a 'child' at heart, I don't know...but I think there is a lot more in those works than the usual 'children's book' epithet covers.

... I think I might have killed her. I've had a Wrinkle in Time in my backpack for a week or two and haven't had a chance to start reading it yet, perhaps she was so insulted... =X
Too bad though, the whole series seems like it would be really good.

Read it! You'll be glad you did! And thanks for posting here... I was beginning to think I was the only IW'er who'd ever read her works!

I first read her book in the fourth grade and was moved, it was the first time an “adult” (at the time I viewed it as an adult novel) moved me. It opened the door for me to a world of science fiction and fantasy.

I was a little shocked to learn that Christian conservatives worked so long and so hard to ban her book…and here I thought the book was overtly Christian…

I think I need to find a copy of Wrinkle again and re-read it

I bought my copy from the store I work at that sells educational toys. Iron, if you buy it on our website I'm sure they could ship it to you if you live in North America, and if now, I'm sure we could work something out between us.
Alternatively, Chapters/Coles should carry it (I can't remember if there are American branches)

Anyway, my store is www.mastermindtoys.com if you want it.

I started reading it this week and I've only breached the first couple chapters, but it seems like a really cool book so far.
