Ydalon

The boy nodded.

"Found him in some lady's yard" he smirked, "enjoying a big breakfast. If I look tired it's from convincing that one we shouldn't stick around."

He reached up to his face, probing his bruise gently before the sting reminded him it was best left alone.

"He's waiting with the others, all back to his silent self now."

Nivram

Nivram heaved a sigh of relief, dropping the wooden support beam he had half lifted. The beam fell to the ground with a dull thud.

"That's good. That he survived, I mean." Nivram fell silent for several seconds, lost in his own thoughts. "We should go and collect the bandit from where Telryn and I locked him up and then leave. There is no prison facility here that could take him."

Ydalon

"All taken care of. I sent him on ahead before I came to get you two. The way's not hard to find if you know it, same part of the city as that smoke plume."

With that, he turned about, walking through the streets with little haste.

"We just need to bump into Isokla now."

Isokla was rarely one to comply with the whims of others, much less on demand, but today was a rarity. She had been out for her early morning walk with her latest pet - shopping to be precise - and now the young priestess wore a veil and a headscarf, not to mention a dress of blue and green. The girl was tailing behind her, and Isokla was looking very business-like and her step was brisk.

Upon seeing Ydalon, as though he were the one who she had been waiting for, she stated primly, “There you are. Where under the skies have you been? I was under the impression we were leaving this... hovel.”

Who could say what had irritated Isokla this time...?

Ydalon

"We are," laughed the boy.
"I rounded up the strays and we'll be through those gates in five minutes or less. I bet there aren't even any guards at their post with the fires raging in that nearby alley."

"Hold on... The alley!"

Picking up the pace, he sprinted in the direction of the palisade opening, took a sharp left and slid to a halt in front of the gathering site. Its gloom was pierced by the flames of surrounding buildings, but smoke was building in answer to that penetration. Barrels and crates had been knocked over, a lone burning cartwheel rolling past. There was no sign of their companions, but loud voices marked the approach of a fire fighting mob.

Ydalon took a few steps into the cluttered passage, searching for a sign, but he was not comfortable with waiting for the town guard. Strangers, known troublemakers and former prisoners tended to be arrested for standing near a spreading fire. He stepped back out again, turning to his remaining companions.

"All I found was this," he told them, holding up a furry tail which he then discarded.
"And this. Reaching out, he gestured to Jason, walking off through nearby shadows.
"There's no more time to linger. Guards are coming. We're leaving now."

Nivram

"What? You let him off on his own!?" Nivram explained, but Ydalon had already rushed off. He shrugged, a helpless shrug of someone, who feels that several hours of effort had just been reduced to naught.

And so, reunited with Isokla and her new 'follower' it was with great surprise that he saw that Ydalon had managed to find Jason again.

Nivram glanced at Telryn. "Should we tie the bandit up?" he asked.

The town of Talryr. A place of wood and clay, fortress against the might of the Lords of Vision committing banditry upon the lands by virtue of its defences, its guard, and its following of the selfsame master under a slightly more benevolent rule. Among the population now, a growing unrest at the way this leadership has treated them and now beat down on their complaints. Order would be restored, life would return to normal, but none could forget what had happened.

It was from this town that the group of five departed, unchallenged, as they set out for their next destination.

What they left behind after their resupply attempt was battered and burning in the daylight.

Jason stood and wondered for a few awestruck moments. He couldn't believe what just happend. Was he really free? He looked down at his hands and feet and smiled to himself. Revenge. No, that was the old way, no more prison, no more killing unless it was to save someone precious to him. Wait, that means he would never kill again, he didnt have anyone precious to him now, he was alone. The gravity of his situation sunk in just then. He was alone and surounded by enemies. Perfect. Not saying that he didnt like a challenge or two, or a few hundred in this case, the first thing he had to do however was get a bath and some clean clothes. He scratched his growing beard and wondered, maybe he could find some armor somewhere, and a sword. He would have preferd his old weapons and armor but he would have to get what he could. Maybe he could find a dead gaurd and.......no. He wasn't going to do that anymore. His head throbbed. Damn. What the hell is going on?

He looked around and saw a inn that looked vaguley familiar and headed toward it. He would use a comrads name and get in for free to the bathhouse. Maybe there would even be some credit to which he could charge a meal. Only one way to find out. As he started out he looked around to try and find the man who released him. He smiled in the general direction and nodded his thanks. He walked toward the inn with every intention of finding them afterwards.
