I like Infinity Engine (it's because I know how to crack it open ). In my opinion, 2D isometric games as Baldur's Gate have much better graphics than 3D games as Neverwinter Nights.
The ultimate combination would be 2D terrain and 3D models (such as Lionheart, coming in August will have).

(I get worse headache after a night spent with a 3D game .)

That bloke right above me is a very wise man.

Infinity is a mature technology, not only do bioware know a lot about how to make games in it, the mod community does as well. If bioware would just open up the last few features that are hardcoded, like making it possible to add new character avatars and similar minor details, infinity would be the engine of choice for modders for years to come.

Whereas aurora - well, its bugged. The scripting language is more powerful but still in development. Hakpaks cause frequent problems because people havent learned what works and what dosent. And it will be years before 3d engines can begin to match the visuals of 2d engines, and it wont be with a tile-based engine like aurora. I dont know how far aurora can be stretched, but I dont feel like it will be equalling infinity for quality of game for quite a while yet.

Thanks, andrewas .

I concur, 3D graphics will not match 2D for long. I mean, just look Fallout. It runs on P90, 16RAM (!). And although it isn't photo-realistic, its graphics are still not far behind NWN (which requires P800, 256RAM).

'nuff said above. if bioware/interplay/black isle were to make bg3 using the infinity engine(which, again, looks great), id be first in line to get it. in fact, id pre-order just to make sure id be one of the first ones to play it!(hint to bioware: go make us a BG3! )

As far as I know, Bioware doesn't have the licence for BG name anymore. At least not for PC.

i may be wrong, but i think it was interplay who lost the licence. i did get the impression, however, that if enough people write to some place, its possible to grant the licence back. i dont know, might be a load of bull though...

AND ya accusded me of powergaming once in BG & ToTSC board?

Anyway, yeah, I have a feeling that I'll never delete BG2 and ToB. THey weren't graphical marvel like C & C: Generals or 3D, but that doesn't matter, the sound is VERY good all around, and I love the gameplay, it ain't so hard to get the basics without being frustrated.

The graphics doen`t matter. It is the playibility that matters.
