I thought they DID sexualize her... which was really evident since it was such a violent/suspense oriented sort of show. To have them switch gears from her shooting it out with the bad guys to her mooning over some guy was one of the things that turned me off to that show. It seemed like a show that couldn't decide if it was "Mission Impossible" or "The Young and the Restless".

My wife liked it though.

I'm not a big fan of Alias, but the "Two Sides of Sydney" stuff isn't the reason. After all, everybody has some kind of life.

Illumina, you have obviously looked into it more than i have (the whole Psyche thing), and yeah, at times it is a little, but as joe public watching it at home, i have been pleasantly suprised that it is definately NOT a major theme. the disguises and outfits are sometimes a but sexual, but yeah, that is pretty much plot dirven, and at the risk of sounding exceedingly corny, the personality of the character doesnt make it seem bad at all - you know she is not dressed like that to BE sexual, so it doesnt seem like it.

Thoran; yeah, obviously those transitions happen quick, as the show only lasts about 40 mins a pop, but i wouldnt say she was mooning over any guy - not to an unrealistic degree anyhow. It is probably one of the more believable relationships you see on TV.

I love Alias; am gutted cause my wife and I are watching the 4th season at the moment - and she has had to go away for a week for work; I dont know if i can fight the temptation....

Didn't enjoy Ultraviolet as much as I thought I would. She seemed to be overpowered and indestructible, after watching a few scenes of her take out hordes of soldiers I was bored. I think they should have slacked off on the numbers to make her at least look vulnerable. Liked the Tomb Raider movies though.

I think Black Cat, Hellcat, or Ms. Marvel would have potential, personally I always like the Scarlet Witch but she is more of a team player.

I have to admit that I don't watch TV (have not had it for several years), my cousin gave me a couple seasons on DVD to watch. I've found that because we don't watch TV, when we DO see TV programming for whatever reason, we're more sensitive to some of the things they do (overt sexuality, glorified violence, etc...). I think when you watch it regularly you get numbed to a lot of what you're really seeing.

Yeah I wasn't too happy about Ultraviolet. She was better that every other of her race, but it was never justified. If they had worked something out in the story explaining that she was stronger I would have accepted it, but as it is it just annoyed me.

I had issues with Aeon Flux, and I had more with Ultraviolet, so I'm probably going to skip anything more made by that guy.

Erm, yeah. Take note girls. You need at least a 36DD before you can try any of that heroine stuff.

So I actually just saw the movie. As I was watching it, I thought it wasn't so bad, there was just her that was crazy, and it just seemed like it was just the wrong person that got power. But the ending... It wasn't stated clearly, but it did have a "don't let women have power they are crazy" feeling to it.

See, that's bad, but my main problem is that when I see previews for it in the theatre, audiences laugh. They think it's funny. I think it's a chilling tale of domestic violence. If it was a male superhero terrorizing his ex-girlfriend in a jealous rage, we wouldn't be laughing, would we?
