Tool, Anathema (just listened to Panic and Empty actually) and APC were my 3 fav. bands out of the ones you listed, although there were a number of other good ones (going to see the Eagles in concert next summer on their final tour).

Missing a few of my fav. bands in there too, Porcupine Tree, Agalloch, Opeth, Dream Theater and a few more that I can't be bothered to list.
Did you hear Ross? A new Tool album is due out soon maybe Feb/March. Nothing has been confirmed yet, but I can't wait, it should be great!

Didn't think there would be a new album out for a while, although I heard about this one a couple of months ago. Great band, can't wait to hear them live next time they get to the UK!

Amen on Kyuss. Sky Valley is a masterpiece and a journey in the greatest sense of desert groove. QOTSA don't measure up really, except for parts of the first album...

I ticked Deep Purple and Anathema from your list, Shadowhound. I have most of the Gillain period Deep Purple on vinyl - I love In Rock, Machinehead and Made In Japan especially. I've got Burn and Stormbringer too but can't quite warm to Coverdale as much as Gillain since he's just that much more overtly sexual in his delivery. The riffs are still mighty fine however.

Anathema is a band I got into during university in my early doom metal phase. Eternity in particular is simply splendorous. A sweet array of romantic prog metal meets floyd. I went backwards first (to the Silent Enigma and Seranades) then forwards (to Alternative Four). But I never really liked Judgement that much (too thin, flat and commerical) so haven't investigated their later stuff. They are one of the all time greats though of classic doomdeath.
