OOO, its neck and neck at the moment!
I say the egg. The egg could have come from to animals mating to produce and it could have become the new species.

Although it would be cool if a chicken just came floating down with a parachute, like in worms.

No one knows the answer to that(not yet anyways)... so therefore I doubt that we'll find the answer to this question at this time.
