The use of tobaco is a long-time human behavior. Some cultures have built rituals around the use of tobaco, like the peace-pipe of native american fame.

If people are so worried about dying they should quit driving cars, flying in areoplanes, and ban guns, ect.

America has managed to ban smoking in most places, and if a person is outside and doesn't want to smell tobacco, they should cross the street or roll up thier car windows. I hate the smell of most cologne and car exhaust, but I'm not on any crusade to ban them.

I smoke organicly grown tobaco, with no additives. I smoke about 6 cigarettes a day. I am happy.
Suicide is also a long time human behavior. Some culture have built "rituals" around suicide, like hara-kiri and kamikaze of Japanese fame.

I dont smoke in my house, becouse I have kids, and a wife that does,nt smoke, NOT THEIR PROBLEM. Before you go judging all who smoke, know that their are smokers out there with a conscience. You should'nt stereotype, even if most smokers are bad. If it is affecting you, either move, or make them move, dont blaim the cigerette. This is YOUR PROBLEM.
How can you understand the dangers to yourself and claim that your smoking isn't a problem to your wife and kids? Your emphysema and/or cancer won't bother them?

I tried smoking at 13 but I couldn't see the value in it. I've never been a slave to peer pressure so didn't feel the need to take it up.
I have no problem with people that smoke as long as they don't affect other people. I have a covered area outside my house where smokers can indulge their addiction. When I find the person that puts their butts in my garden I will get into them, littering is not on at my place.

I live with someone who does smoke, but not in the house. She smokes in the garage during the winter months and outside during the warmer weather. I don't like people smoking either, but understand how hard it is for them to quit. My friend tried using the patch, worked for awhile and is back at it because she is so addicted. Hard to understand when you are not a smoker.

You do got allot of enemies then

Anyway, I do smoke. In the beginning I would only smoke when I went out on clubs or parties,(nothing's better than a cigarette when youre heavily affected by alcohol) but after a while I was into it. Some of you wondered why the hell people smoke. Well Ive noticed that smokers go with smokers and non smokers go with non smokers. Most of my friends smoke and 95% of my collegues at work smoke. Its all a part of our life now. Its quite social actually. We have a break from the job or schoolwork and have a cigarette then chat about everything. Nonsmokers however are disgusted by the smell of smoke and are pretty annoyed with smokers. I can understand you as Im quite annoyed myself if somone is smoking next to me and Im not, and I get all the smoke thrown at my face. Passive smoking is very annoying indeed. And even though I agree to this Im quite annoyed about that our blasted government is setting up all kinds of bans and campaigns to stop us. Smoking isnt healthy but today most things isnt. You can get cancer of eating chips, drinking milk and so much else thats been discovered. You never know when youre gonna die, maybe you will get hit by a bus tomorrow? Death can come to anyone at anytime. You only live once so make sure you do what you want to do before your time runs out. If I wanna smoke then let me do so. Smokers could still show a little more consideration for nonsmokers as they often wander off in their own world when they have a cigarette not thinking of others that gets quite annoyed.

I don't see the point of smoking, but that's just me. I think everyone is free to do what they want, even if I find it dumb. But what irritates me is the lack of respect (some) smokers show.
My wife is 8 months pregnant. She takes a bus to work. Teens stand in the bus shelter smoking, so my wife has to stand out in the cold and wind, even when it is -40 degrees. If someone wants to smoke, fine. But let THEM be the ones to go outside.
