Yep, Star Wars is fantasy George Lucas has said so himself. So I'll say the original trilogy is my favourite.
But I also loved Willow and Legend, even though it starred Tom Cruise |

I recall First Knight did have some decent melee scenes. Though if sci-fi is being thrown in Matrix did a decent effort or the Crow.

I liked the way First Knight took magic out of the Arthur equation. I can't look at Richard Gere without thinking about what he did with a gerbil though (shudder!)
. Dragonheart I liked, though I know others that thought it was pants . Think my favourite would be Hawk the Slayer (I love Bernard Breslaw characters - his Cyclops was the only decent character in Krull) |

Definitely Conan the Barbarian (NOT the Destroyer). That movie is so damn classic it hurts...the darkness of it, the mad cool imagery, the weapons and the fight scenes. it can't be beat.
Excalibur is excellent too...it's been a while since i've seen it and i have the desire to do so again. Lord of the Rings looks extremely promising, and i honestly am pissing my pants in anticipation of it. i can tell you what is most certainly, without a doubt the CRAPPIEST most VILE disgusting pile of stinking offal of the whole fantasy film genre--the ever-deplorable Dungeons & Dragons. i hope that movie burns in the smoldering, caustic pits of the most awful hell imaginable. (if you can't tell, i didn't like it very much)

Excalibur, Dragon Heart, Willow, The Hobbit, Conan The Barbarian, Highlander, and several others mentioned here.
If I had to only pick one? The Hobbit! I know, it seems cheesy, but I was 10 and that movie introduced me to the D&D style world I'd never seen.

ahh...clash of the titans
conan the barbarian, the origanal 12 paperbacks are also fantastic Legend, ya ya like mentioned above it has tom cruise in it,but I still really enjoy this movie. The scene where the devil begins to come through the full lenghth mirror is very very cool. Lord of the rings...sweet whistling mother of...something something I can,t wait for this movie. My all time favorite book trilogy, made into a modern day movie.I enjoyed the first animated movie and this will definately be better. So for all you nay sayers, you know who you are.Do us all a favour and zip it.Do you really expect hollywood to make a fantasy movie on par with a tolkien story in 2 hours? No of course not,and I know they also do an extremely bad job on other fantasy works as well butttt...ah forget it. cya@themovies
