I got it at my home address so I'm not sure how they got my email addy but however they did, it was the first time I saw that mail and didn't realize how pervasive it was til I saw Lanesra's link above!

Folks, folks, folks.... I haven't opened the zip file that was attached (nor do I plan to), but I *highly* doubt that it's spam. It's far more likely that it is a virus, and by tracking back to their ip address, it's far more likely that you're going to harass someone whose sole crime is being foolish enough to run without good anti-virus protection.

So don't jump off to hassle them unless you know it's spam... and if you think it is, you can just forward the email to your ISP's spam and abuse department, and let them handle it.

And Cloudy, if you send the viagra / mortgage / rolodex folks to me, I'm going to send the female *ahem* enhancement / home tan / cheap software ones to you!

And yes, I agree, Bungleau, I think this FBI scam is certainly more than simple spam, as the article Lanesra linked to shows.

We got them at work, too...I don't think anyone opened them, but still...I got as far as (your ip has been logged) and clicked delete. Almost didn't even open it. Funny thing is we DID have a person from the FBI come out the day before because one of the staff member's friend is attempting to become a member of the FBI and they were doing a background check and came out to "ask a few questions" ...... thought it was ironic timing...
