Hi all, long time no see... or read rather...
Just dropping by, I have no internet at the moment (and will be for a while), so I'm just working like crazy, up to 70 hours a week. I got a job in a department store and on day 3 I got promoted to being in charge of the dairy section, because the guy quit. I have been there for about a month now and I like it very much... except the store in painfully understaffed, hence the long hours... So whats been happening here lately? |

What a freaky day this was. I was going to visit my buds today, but mother nature must have felt i didn't deserve a little break. This morning when i woke up, everything was still okay. My mate called me on the phone, and asked me what time i'd be arriving at the station, so he could come and pick me up. I told him i was leaving my house at somewhat 3 PM, which means i would be there around 4 PM. When i got to Utrecht CS, i found out that south of Utrecht two trains crashed into eachother, jamming all traintraffic heading south, and to the north everything was blocked due to a lightningstrike. So basically there was no chance i could get out of the city. There's always busses of course, but due to the railway troubles, the whole country was clogged with traffic jams, some up to the length of 70 kms, so that wasn't really an option either. On top of that, there were thousands and thousands of frustrated people walking around in the vicinity of central station, which resulted in a pretty tense atmosphere. Taking a citybus back home became almost a mission impossible, it was THAT crowded in the area, so i decided to take a cab. By then it started snowing, like really REALLY hard, causing even more traffic jams, and disabled traintraffic in the east, to make a long story short...it's total chaos here. I had to wait almost an hour until i found a cab willing to take me home, most cabs were too busy fulfilling the stranded trainpassengers needs, and some people were literally fighting over a cab. All the while i was beginning to look more and more like a snowman. It's amazing what a few simple setbacks can do to a country's infrastructure, and to the overall mood of people all around you.
![]() Thank goodness i have a few excellent bottles of wine and Starwars 3 on DVD here, to make me forget all about today's misery. ![]() [ 11-25-2005, 08:42 PM: Message edited by: johnny ]

![]() No snow yet for us. The rest of Britain seems to be rolling in the stuff, but none for the capital. ![]()

Well, the roads in Cornwall are blocked up now, so maybe we should be greatful for our lack of snow.

Perhaps, for the first time since I can remember, Middlesbrough will have a white Christmas.

Had snow here, at uni, didn't stick though. Quite an event for me though. We never get snow at home, i live just east of the pennines, all the snow falls on the west.
