You're right, we should all surrender the world cup to the amazing might of Denmark.

He could have played for ENgland, but chose Wales. In fact he used to play for the U21s.

Now now. There is absolutely no need to surrender the trophy to us. Please play your best. It will feel so much better to win when you are trying.
Okay, that's enough daydreaming for one day. Seriously though I think we make good use of the sparse talent our tiny nation can muster. I recall a scene from the movie "A bridge too far". The allied airbourne armada is overflying the German HQ and the commander comments "if I just once had such material at my disposal". I look at the English team with similar thought. Jeez, if we had the same amount of people to pick from we'd be champions. One or two injuries and we have to swap 5 or 6 players' positions. Our team is too slim.
[mad=dog finally runs out of stuff to say]

Aye, I remember that match. England was already leading by 4 - 0. Then in come substitute Patrick Kluivert. He shoot the ball right in between David Seaman's ( I think ) legs and scored!
And that 1 goal had the added advantage of knocking out the Scotts!!! So a win -win result all round!!

I've heard in the news today that Sven might try a 4-5-1 (4-3-2-1 like Chelsea and Man Utd). Do you think this will work? Is it a good idea? Or is it only so calls to drop Beckham and play SWP on the right will end?

Well it worked (sort of) England beat Wales 1-0. More importantly to me Northern Ireland actually won a match

Our 1st competitive win in 4 years! 2-0 against Azerbajan.

Savour the moment, it won't happen again for a long time.

Beckham becomes the holding midfielder. Not bad at all. Though I still have my doubt if england were to fight with tougher opponent.

So was it joe cole's goal or an own goal?

We won again as well, in one of the most boring matches i've ever seen. Playing against lesser opponents who dig themselves in around their own penaltybox, with no intentions whatsoever of trying to score, is a necessary evil. Still, in the end we got our three points, thanks to a fantastic goal from van Nistelrooy. The best part of this evening though, is that our only rivals for winning the group, the Czechs, lost 2-0 against Romania, which gives us a 4 point edge over them now, and almost a certain worldcup berth, while the Czechs will have to struggle to maintain their second spot.

So even after watching a dull match, there's plenty of reason to celebrate.

In fact he was born in Wales, both parents and all four grandparents are Welsh. His family moved to England when he was seven and because he attended an English school he was eligible to play for (and indeed captain) England Schoolboys.

He is not qualified to play for England at any higher level. (Apart from cricket of course!)
