I'm worried that I cannot detect any sarcasm in your response! Please tell me you are joking?
Nope not joking but if you think thats to harsh we could just take the hand he used to put the glass in the burger with. Don't cost a thing to cut off a hand.
Hmm, interesting that you should propose a punishment commonly practised in only the most extreme Muslim states.

I thought America prided itself on being the leader of the Free World. From your comments you sound as though you would be more happy with the justice system practiced in Afghanistan or Iran. Maybe those Taliban weren't such bad guys after all, hey?

The punishment to take someone's hand is not new, and in the Middle Ages it was very common for a thief to lose his hand if he was caught in the act.

It's because of people with opinions like these that I feel a desire to move to Canada.

I don't see what the big deal is. The glass was probably the healthiest thing in the burger.

Seriously though, I am a big opponent of "An Eye for an Eye" punishment. Didn't Jebus teach us to turn the other cheek? I'm agnostic, but I'll take the New Testament over the Old Testament any day of the week (and twice on Sundays).

No, it was actually JESUS that taught "turn the other cheek" and "love thy neighbor as thyself".

Jebus was a lesser known half-cousin who DID believe in an "eye for an eye". Some people still pay homage to Jebus when they say that somebody "got the BEJESUS beat out of him". They turned his named around to describe the act of revenge or meteing out of extraordinary physical punishment.

OK..just joking. I'm not picking on you, Lox. You're typo just conjured up an amusing visual image and I couldn't resist having a little fun with it.

Of course peoples views and opinions are shaped by where they live. One's entire outlook on life, the universe and everything is shaded by the eyeglasses of culture that they wear. But does that mean that no one in Canada has strict crime & punishment views? Of course not, don't be ridiculous. I just think that there is less of it in Canada than in the United States. Actually, now that I'm thinking about it, the difference might not be as clear cut when comparing Canada to the US. Canada is fairly conservative (in general) on a lot of issues. Maybe I should have used Europe as an example.

It's just when us bleeding heart liberals threaten to take our tax dollars and move away, the knee-jerk reaction is to say Canada, since that's where most of our hippy parents dodged the draft (Give me a sec to remove my tongue from my cheek.)

Hehe, no offense taken. As long as you can make me laugh, I'm a happy guy. But it wasn't a typo. I was referring to the Deity to whom Homer appeals for help in one of the Simpson's episode. (I think he was being chased by characters from Sesame Street, yelling "Help me, Jebus! Help me, Jebus!)

Maybe the cops put his father away or something... Or a friend...

(How interesting... answering what you said with what you said... )

I think shooting is a little harsh. Although the crime was pretty terrible... it can't have been too life-threatening, as the police officer was able to return to the restaurant and identify Garcia... Presumably the same day.

I don't mean to imply that the crime is nothing... just that shooting him is overly violent.

I don't understand this... how else would they treat him?
