Hi all !
Anyways.. since feeling abit paranoid for the past days (see previous threads). I want to see how my protections is holding out against online attacks as well as prevention of information leaks. So.. after a small quick search.. here are a couple of sites testing out your security if your interested guys http://www.sygatetech.com/ (some of you may know this one as this has good scanning) http://www.dslreports.com/tools - broadband testing as well as port scan. http://www.dslreports.com/whois - The best (or worse on how you look about it) thing I found here is ip checker to see where the ip address guy more or less lives or at least the general area with his subscriber. Its pretty scary really on how your IP address tells alot about you. (edit: so watch out trolls) http://www.hackerwatch.org/probe/ - Another good test site Other sites.. go to this one http://www.firewallguide.com/test.htm - having several firewall test links including mentioned above. This link here is a bit weird http://www.rnmap.com/?url=http://www...free-proxy.php It actually lets you type in a URL and hides your IP identity. This may be bad for us if people like trolls and stuff use this. Just to test my theory, I actually used it with the dslreports.com/whois broadband thingie .. interesting results. can anyone confirm me on this one if it actually works? hope this interest you All my results came clean as a whistle ![]() [ 10-09-2004, 05:03 PM: Message edited by: Harkoliar ]

Yes, proxies hide your IP, but it depend on the quality of the proxy. It hide it a first glance, but it's still possible to get it sometimes.
Also, you need to trust your proxy, as every single thing that your browser send or receive pass through them. [ 10-09-2004, 09:36 PM: Message edited by: Luvian ]

I don't personally use proxy, but a while ago I did research on them.
Personally, I wouldn't trust a free proxy. One I think is safe is this one: http://www.amegaproxy.com/ |
