So an Elementalist/ Monk sounds nice? Necro is too dark for the character I have in mind...

I have an E/Mo and it is quite flexible.

Lots of Energy, can switch to a healing build or smiting build if necessary.

Can raing fire or lighting if needed.

When I was able to try out the Monk spells I wanted it already. I have difficulty venturing out on my own because I have no healing spells. I have enough damage on my opponent but I just can't seem to manage without any healing spells. Aura of Restoration is good but then I like the the light better than the dark. Being a E/N is too offensive-minded. I think I am going with the E/ Mo.

I have 4 different Setups for my E/Mo

1. Pure Pyro - used to control Mobs with large AOE Spells

2. Pure Air - Spell Spells and single target damage

3. Smiting - Great use on the undead missions

4. Healing - Have a large eergy pool and can spam healing spells

Yeah, but AOE spells took a huge nerf in the latest AI update.

I don't use AOE for damage. Mainly crowd & aggro control.

I now use AOE to get monsters away from my monks & casters not to kill them.

AoE spells no longer cause scatter, only DoT AoE(damage over time area of effect). So Fireball won't do it, but Firestorm will.
And people please stop screaming about the eles taking huge nerfs in the update and all that, cause I for one adore the new update. No more "Hey, kick the necro and take an ele or something useful" shyte I used to get from W/Mos, Mo/Ws and other cretins. Are people to lazy to swap Meteor Shower/Firestorm for a Rodgort's Invocation or Dwayna forbid add a slow skill. Sorry if this sounds like a rant, but I can't stand any more people complaining about the update.

I'm not complaining, I'm just saying that stuff like Fire Storm and Meteor Storm, which were the bread-and-butter of the fire elementalist, aren't nearly as effective as they were before as a stand-alone skill.

Actually, Meteor storm can still be effective. The knockdown seems to hinder enemies running away, and it only lasts 9 seconds or something anyway, with a knockdown every three. I still take it everywhere I go. Firestorm, however, is crapola.

It's good that they have brought in these AOE updates... it's making me have to use different spells i previously never looked at, like incendiary bonds etc. I hated it at first, but it seems to be agreeing with me the more I play.
