Yup, like the subject said, Firefox 0.9 has been released. The new version has better theme and extension support. Which means bad or unused extension(s) can be uninstalled easily now. BTW, no themes for 0.9 for the moment, but it will be made available soon. (I hope)
![]() Oh, you can download Firefox 0.9 here. [ 06-16-2004, 01:12 AM: Message edited by: Paladin2000 ]

Cool. I'll have to try it out. I have an old version of it still that I use occasionally.

So far so good. My old favorite extensions like the "All-in-one-Gestures" and "Tabbrowser extensions" are still working with the 0.9.
The only downside is that I need to wait for the existing themes to be updated. [edited] Found some updated themes. The choice is rather limited at the moment, but it is better than nothing. Click here to download updated themes which are compatible with Firefox 0.9. [ 06-16-2004, 02:05 AM: Message edited by: Paladin2000 ]

Is it true that Firefox doesn't get infected with spyware like IE does? I'm not sure where I heard this, but if it's true, I'll switch over right now.

Firefox doesn't get as much spyware as IE, and Spyware Guard (see one of the numerous anti spyware threads about) protects it even further (aswell as catering to IE). Opera is also good like this, and I think that AOL's Navigator may be aswell (well, except for the spyware it contains itself). The main thing that makes this so is that most Spyware is targeted primarily at IE, and acts through popups. Both Firefox and Opera block popups while browsing.
The Fallen One, firefox is exactly the opposite of communism: it is open source. You can download the source code, you can modify it however much you want, you can recompile it, and it is legal. It allows different skins, and both tabbed and Windowed browsing - it is about user choice. And it is complient to the standards set by the World Wide Web Consortium, meaning that it works quite well with most well-built websites (those that use the W3C's standards as guidelines, rather than forcing users to use a particular browser) - and the number of well-built websites is increasing. Yup, Firefox is free and it is one of the best browser available. I was a hardcore supporter of IE until the endless pop-ups, p0rn dialers and active-X installers/dialers managed creep up into my PC without my consent.
Nowadays, I use Firefox for most of my browsing and only use IE for some stubborn sites that simply would not run on Firefox. I have even switch from Outlook Express to Mozilla Thunderbird. Long live open source! ![]() [ 06-17-2004, 05:22 AM: Message edited by: Paladin2000 ]

Just tried it... it looks pretty good... much better than Opera at least.
Now to start the 12 step program to get used to not using IE... |

Hey what's wrong with Opera? I've been using that for the last year at least and it's fine for all my browsing and email needs. Except for the odd few sites which are non-WC3-compliant as Cookie-boy said.
It's much slicker than IE with tabbed browsing and mouse-gesture operated interface. In fact, as I've done at least 10 times on IW in the last few months, I'd recommend Opera - though haven't tried Firefox so can't compare. Anyway, as long as it's not IE, it's cool.
