Not to sidetrack the discussion, but can anyone recommend a good chess game (not online) that I could buy for my computer? thx much.

Now seriously: Chessmaster (the latests edition) and Fritz (the latest edition) are considered superb chess programs. I personally recommend chessmaster. I have used it for years and i can vouchsafe for it.
