You kinda rescue them or something?... That could be nice... that you meet Gorion ect.

Also do not forget about Firkraag and his encounter with Gorion and his Harper friends... that should have been in the same time era I think.

This could be a great mod or an actual new game... that would be great

The main problem with this otherwise amazing idea (and I really do think its good) is that there is no way D&D would licence the Forgotten Realms setting to Bioware or anyone else for a God war - it would contradict too many of their existing publications.

If anyone felt like developing this as a free mod (and it is a brilliant idea) feel free to

How about Bhaal is your evil sibling and at the showdown at the end of the game you kill him, but by killing him he becomes an official god(because he life on earth is over) and u are just his unknown brother that turned him into a god of murder. And like Tancred said your hunting him down to prove your wroth to harpers but dont fin out that he was your brother untill the final conversation. Much like with sarevok.

Hopefully im not an idoit it probably would never happen thoug itwould altar all of the D&D world.

Big Problem.

Drizzt and Volo were not even a dirty thought in daddy's mind during the time of troubles.

or maybe you could have them meet some NPCs from the former late 80s early 90s D&D games like Pools of Darkness and the Savage Frontier series???

Actually, I'm pretty sure Drizz't would have been alive, depending on the race of your NPC. Your character was conceived during the Time of Trouble.

- Battle newly-awakened evils in the Sword Coast, uncovering the sinister and determined new Cult of Cyric
- Search out Zhentarim and their insane schemes as part of your apprenticeship
- Meet a young Khalid and Jahiera, perhaps even working with them - Against Baron Ployer's slave network, perhaps?
- Meet BG2 characters yet to rear their heads; the Harpers Galvarey and Dermin Courtierdale
- Tie up loose ends - like who was Rielev before you discovered his brain in a jar? How was your mother, Gorion's friend and lover, seduced into worshipping Bhaal?

And, eventually, you'd be caught up in the battle between the Harpers and the Bhaalite priesthood, ending up with the guardianship of a young infant girl, and with a long, perilous journey to safety ahead of you - finally answering the question of how Imoen ended up in Candlekeep?
A lot of those sound really good, but let us not forget how easily we can get distracted by overindulging in certain characters popularity. After all, a big complaint with the Star Wars prequels was the unnecessary including of favorite characters' histories that didn't belong there just to sell move movie tickets. I honestly think the BG team would be much more creative and witty about how they'd impliment this than Mr Lucas, but still... It happened once.

I'm just sitting here hoping that no one suggests a comic relief character, like a clumsy minotaur that talks like a Jamacian with marbles in his mouth... *cringes at the memory of how another Prequel was ruined*

Personally tho I like the idea, I just wonder if it wouldn't be overkill on what the game makers already know we like.
