The following quote is from the Australian publication "Hospitality" Issue 574, ( Page 10 )

" ... and set to serve up more than 90 entree sized dishes ... is dining and cocktail spot Cargo. Look out for the Miami-stlye 2.5 metre jellyfish tank and the $15,000 unisex toilet cubicles made entirely out of clear glass."

I can hardly believe that the owners of Cargo are serious. Unisex toilets don't bother me, they are not uncommon, but clear glass cubicles? Forget it !!

It's sad to think that there might be enough people that would be attracted by these *ahem* facilities, that the owners were willing to spend $15K to install them.

Then again, perhaps I am the one that is old fashioned and behind the times, lacking in appreciation of modern bathroom design. Does anyone else know of any similar style toilet facilities anywhere else in the world?

My boyfriend had to go to the toilet when we were in Amsterdam near the Museum Square. When he came back he told me the doors of the cubicles where completely clear and see-through! Well, he was shocked of course and didn't like it all that much but when he locked the door behind him, the glass "misted over" and became black, like in a SF movie or something! Quite a relief for him, until we realised the glass might still be see-through when looking in from the outside

AFAIK most of the offices in Japan don't even have cubicles at all. Mind you that this is a country where men took bath naked in public bath houses. Maybe these transparent cubicles will sell like hot cake there.

I actually think westerners are more offended/embarrassed by public defecation than public nudity.

Not that much when it comes to peeing, but it's a different matter when you're sitting on a toilet for that other thing. I defenitely don't wanna be stared at at moments like that. But then again, i never use public toilets for that anyway. They're not exactly very hygienic. I don't even use the bathrooms in McDonalds restaurants. You don't know who's been sitting there before you. It will have to wait.

Ditto I never ever use public toilets unless of course I am just about to explode. But that doesn't mean I am going going to put my bum on the seat without covering it with A LOT toilet paper.

Exactly. Except the ones I've seen are not at all see-thru.
