Is it just me who's noticed or is there a habit in the US of embelishing words?.
I've noticed this a lot in US government speeches. Take a word like arrest. I arrest, he arrests, you have been arrested etc. In Bush speak this would become "we will arrestify Saddam" or "he has been arrestificated". I noticed this with "anaesthetist", it becomes "anaesthetologist" somehow in the US. Anyone else notice others?

Sports commentators have been doing this for years. It just strikes me as a poor command of the language. I really wish that the White House would have better grammar.
So spoken like the daughter of an editor.
