An embedded reporter has reported tha Coalition forces have found weapons-grade plutonium at the Tuwaitha site, the center of Iraqi nuclear weapons research. No confirmation yet. Related link is here.

The link doesn't work for me - but seeing as it is Foxnews thet reported it I'm probably not missing anything.
P.S. Yes - I'm saying that I believe it is BS.

Will you believe it when CNN copies the story? And will you then issue an apology to FOX News for doubting their integrity? Jst curious
Or will you be among those who claim it was planted there by George Bush himself? |

Give the news article a few days to 'breathe'. Lets see what pans out. And MagiK, that reply was kinda harsh and hostile man. Cool it! |

Look, I'm not the biggest Fox fan around, but I don't think they make things up. They are definitely right-leaning in their delivery and may report things too quickly that support the right view, but they report the news - the same news I see on other channels - and I haven't seen them making anything up yet. Especially when it comes to the "field reporters". Fox's field reporters are as good as any out there.
![]() Note: While typing this, Rumsfeld was asked about the plutonium issue on CNN. He said the press is embedded and report on what they see when they see it, and he said the military is not so quick to report. This find will have to be thoroughly tested by the military before any official comment is made. The press and military have different jobs. ![]() [ 04-10-2003, 06:54 PM: Message edited by: Ronn_Bman ]

Central Command cautions everyone to treat every initial report of WoMD as "false" until it has been proven otherwise through thorough testing, but yes, the site was discovered apparently when locals took the Marines to it "to show them what was hidden from the inspectors". An underground complex of "as many as a hundred buildings, 14 of which with radioactive reading that went odff the scales."
Also discovered today: a military truck at a construction site/missle site with a hidden compartment inside that from all descriptions, could be a mobile biological weapons lab or loader. It will not be known for sure that the truck is yet another "smoking gun" until testing can determine the contents of the containers inside the hidden compartment but from all accounts of the mechanisms inside, it certainly looks as if it could be. Could be does not mean is. What's scary about the truck is that someone came onto the construction site/missle site and tried to drive it away at the same time all the looting was going on so it isn't known if the driver knew what he had (the keys were left in the vehicles on the site). It makes me wonder how many people have taken trucks with similar compartments into residential areas either as prizes of looting, or knowing what the trucks contain. The contents from barrels outside of Karbala, which were found Monday, only just reached U.S. testing labs today meaning whatever they held remains unconfirmed until testing is complete. oopsie! 14 buildings, not rooms as originally stated. WOW. ![]() [ 04-11-2003, 08:41 AM: Message edited by: Lil Lil ] |

It's just another false alarm. There is nothing about it in the Times today. The plutonium was locked up by the UN inspectors for safety reasons.
