Your PC Specifications are too low for Gothic II. To run Gothic II smoothly, you will need:
P4 2.x GHz 512 MB RAM or more (the more the better) 128 MB RAM Video card Gothic II needs a lot of CPU power and RAM because of the updated graphic engine. My PC specifications: P4 1.5 GHz 256 MB RAM 64MB nVidia GeForce 2 MX400 The frame rate is terrible, but playable.

You are welcome. To look on the bright side, by the time you got a new PC, this game would probably in the bargain bin.

I played it on a amd 1800 geforce mx 32 mb and 256 mb and it ran fine.
I do believe it is one of very few games that requires a geforce 3 or higher. On my card the water was all white other than that it ran functionally. Slow in the city though. It in general runs about the same speed as gothic 1, just a little slower. The land area is much larger, say like 10 times larger. I do belive system requirements are 256 mb though. Other than that I think you qualify to play it very slowly. I think youll like gothic 2 if you like gothic 1. What is missing though is like the gritty weirdness of the first game. The second game is kinda more standard fantasy stuff. The world map includes the prison colony right in the middle of it, and then adds all the areas around it. I agree with Paladin2000. It's better to have a good PC for this game. I have a P4 2,4 GHz, 1 GByte RAM and a Gforce4 Ti 4200. You need it, if you want to see the "world" of Gothic2 in full details . I think, you miss a lot of fun ,if you play this game without some of the features.
