A few questions about mages....

Is there any way to have more than 10 Level 1 Spell slots? I have the ring of wizardy on and stuff but it don't go above 10

Not a question but since Dynaheir takes hits like a girl (er hehe) I put my only pair of Boots of Haste on her so she can get out of the way of an oncoming sword quickly. Not only that but if there's an enemy that is almost dead and panics I can swifty chase after them with a magic missile spell [img]smile.gif[/img]

I am pretty sure the bottom row should be able to be filled out but it has been awhile since I had a high level mage so someone else will have to confirm this.

I only just recently started a new game.

If I am not mistaken there is another artifact that you can wear that will give you bonus slots in the first or second level...

I know for sure that there is a necklace that you can buy tha gives you and extra second level spell and I am of the belief that there is either a necklace or a ring that will give you and extra first level spell or two. Also a nasty powergaming spoiler is to put the ring of wizardry on your charachter...then export him to a new game and pick up another one...then give both to your mage and Presto...spells galore

There are two Rings of Wizardry in the game. The one under the rock by the FAI and a dude in BG city has one as well. If you equip both of them, you end up with 20 first level spells. The trick is this, the spell book has only 10 slots per level; so, there is a certain sound that is made when choose to memorize a new spell. Just keep on clicking on the spell you want even though all the slots seem filled. It will keep on making that sound until the unseen slots are filled. When you go back to the main interface there will be the number under the spell you memorized - 20 magic Missiles!

I've got Baldur's Gate - The origional saga, with no Totsc, and I have never been able to find the second ring at FAI. I'm not sure what version number my game is but i got the latests official patch. Shouldn't that have given me the ring? I still don't have it in the game. How are you supposed to get it?

ryaldin it is one of those very difficult items to find and you have to place your cursor exactly over the ring, which is so tiny it is easy to miss. Kind of like looking for a needle in a haystack. It is located at the very bottom of the map to the east of the FAI gate. There is a patch of trees and near this patch is a rock at the SW corner of the patch. You need to move your mouse around and look for it to change to a glove. Happy Searching!

gggggrrrr....it's not there. I looked. I found a website that had the exact xy coordinates which were 2555 and 3759, and it isn't there. Nothing. Nada. Zip. I thought that if you had the latest patch installed that the missing ring problem would be corrected. *sigh* no unlimeted power for my mage.

Oh it is there, but imagine a ring you drop on the floor, now imagine this ring on the screen reduced to the size it would be in BG, now try placing your mouse over it. What I usually do is hit pause, get a snack, sit down and slowly move my mouse around, untill I hit it. It takes a great deal of patience it is always hardest the first time. I had more difficulty with finding the Platemail in Naskel and that area was slightly larger to mouse over.

If you keep searching you will find it, if it is bugging you take a break from ring searching and come back later and try again, it will help you keep your sanity.

You could be correct although I am using "The original Saga" which should be equivalent to BG with the expansion and patches and the Ring is always there.

Now if he is using the original BG and the patch actually removes it then why did they place the ring back when they created the complete package. That is just plain cruelty on the part of the designers as people who are not using The original Saga will go completly insane looking for a ring that the rest of us can find.
