Those of you following Detheriel's journals will have noticed that my game has been getting steadily more buggy as I played. The reason for this is I've been forced to move my savegames to different computers (and therefore installations) on several occasions - I think that each had slightly different combinations of mods installed. This has culminated in critical NPC dialogue added by a mod becoming complete gibberish.
Sillara has been very kind and supplied string fixers and scripts on several occasions to try and limit the damage, but I think it's becoming clear that I can't struggle on like this any more I have done a completely clean installation and re-created the exact list of original mods installed but it appears the damage created in my savegames cannot be 'undone' so simply. I therefore have two options - I can start again with a different character and party (like a more evil one...), or find a way to repair it. So, my question to all you people who know the inner mechanics of the game is: will this idea work? My question is basically about whether the game variables on the last tab of Shadowkeeper capture all progress through the game. So if I created a new game with the same characters and altered/added all the variables to be identical, would this place me at the same point in all my quests? I could then recreate the inventory and add in the XP and pick up where I left off. Or is that hopelessly optimistic? There is another related question of course - is there a nice "cut and paste" way to change all the variables? There seem to be a ton of them and it would be quite a task (an impossible one?) to change them all by hand. Any input would be very welcome. TIA |

Just updating to save someone writing a reply - Sillara has suggested a superior method - I'm going to rampage through the game with a few killswords which should allow me to quickly get to the point where I left off. Definitely less of a PITA than changing ninety-million variables by hand...
