A fighter can use MOD+2. A mage, a cleric, a ranger, pally and all other casters can use Amulet of Power. What does a thief get? He dies pretty fast when facing Vampires due to their "fast" moving speed and annoying level drain... BTW I'm only on L13 and dont have the boots of speed yet... Also, I dont want to carry PrFU scrolls around either... any item I can use to prevent level drain? Or am I stuck with the good old PrFU scroll? Another question I just came up with, how should I spend my thief points with my Assasin??? Replys appreciated!

If you have a Cleric in your party, you can use Negative Plane Protection... other then that, do you have TOB ??

Thieves can still use an Amulet of Power.

If you do have ToB, then there are many ways theives can be protected from level drain.

Assassin skill points: It all depends on what you want to do with him.

Pump Stealth early, then traps. The rest can be done however you like.

One must ask oneself why would a Thief be in danger of being level-drained by a Vampire in the first place? They are not meant to tango on the frontline. Stealth them or turn them invisible through other means, and let the tanks with all their protections proceed to lay the smackdown on them neckbiters.

Your Assassin can always assist your party on other occasions, it is alright to let him/her sit back and do nothing sometimes, if the risks outweigh the benefits.

And once said tanks are engaged with said undead, there's nothing wrong with said assassin launching a barrage of projectiles. My assassin swears by his bow, and never touches his sword until it's time to deliver a poisonous backstab.

Some times, no matter what you do, your most fragile character ends up in combat. Like a certain fight involving a certain statue down under the dark earth. With level draining melee combatants. That has always been a hellish fight, especially for a low level party.

Options.

Combat buffs. As many as possible. Negative Plane Protection. Highly valuable. Does not last long, but, grants you much needed time to get the upper hand, control the situation, and, then slowly retreat the weaker not so protected party members. If you can establish a front line in the time you are given, the battle is yours.

Oil of Speed. Your Thief should be worried about one skin and that would be his. (or hers) When all else fails, run away. Pop an oil of speed and gogogogogogogogogogo! Run around as bait and make the most of it.

Protection from Undead Scrolls. Cheesy? No. They are there for a reason and a rather common item. Use them.
