Don't worry, he will start complaining, after several complains he will leave, better lower it if you intend to keep him around.

I like to keep my reputation high,so I guess I'll have to pick someone else,but I don't like Nalia,and I don't like Aerie and Viconia is a clerc and not a mage I think.Who else can I find?

You are going to experience the same reputation problem with Korgan and Viconia, since like Edwin, they are all evil. As soon as reputation hit above average, they will start to complain, and if it reaches too high (like 19) they will eventually leave.
Well, if you insist on getting a mage, then just play along the story and get Imoen back.

This is, of course, since you don't like Nalia or Aerie. In the mean time, you might want to give Jan a shot. He is chaotic neutral, so he will only complain but not leave when rep is too high.

Well I guess having a reputation of 18 instead of 20 can't affect the game that much,and I would like to keep Edwin.Lol,what would be the best way of losing 2 reputation points hehe?

2 ways:
1) Slayer change ( -2 to rep each time)
2) Shadowkeeper, 'nuff said......
It is not recommended to kill innocent or nobles when rep is at 20, since it will drop to 10 for the first person you kill.

During Chapter 4, you will gain an ability called "Slayer Change", it is the avatar of Bhaal. Personally, I never use it due to:
1) Don't need it (just like shapeshifting)
2) Using it cause -2 to rep each time
3) Using it too long and you will die
4) When your rep goes below 0, you die
5) It's ugly, but your opponents are uglier when you are done with them
