How so? I've never played a Bard, can you explain their "fun" points?

I agree with Lavindathar - how is a Bard fun. Funny perhaps prancing around in his tights and plucking his harp (yes, that's right, a male).
I cried in my ale that evening and vowed never to allow a bard in my party. We halflings have some pride (almost as much as dwarves).
My mate is a Druid and boy you don't want to get on the wrong side of him. Mother nature can make a terrible foe.
Paladins are wonderful fighters and really good looking. We have a human female in our party and if I was just a little taller, well umm I'm not going to dwell on that thought. I'm still trying to convince her that good things come in small packages.
Whilst we're on the subject of Paladins, how come they have to be human!!!! Bunch of racists if you ask me.

I'm going back to me ale now and brush up on this new GROWTH spell I'm trying to master...

I'm on my first run through at the moment (I owned a P133 until
a week ago..) and playing a paladin - I've always liked that
class and they're outstanding for self-reliance.

My friends who have finished the game swear by fighter/clerics,
either dwarf or elf. Good hit points, weapon specialization and
a great selection of weapons, spellcasting with armor...you don't
miss out on much. If you like skulking, I think half-elves or elves
can be cleric/rangers.

Those classes sound like a good go to me, when you need a break from
the obligatory white anglo-saxon heterosexual paladin.

My favorite BGII by far is the Monk. Sadly, no monk in BGI, so I'm going with a Paladin. The Paladin's name is Alanzo Quexana, anyone recognize the name?

You can dual a cleric to ranger (after which the character will be restricted to using a cleric's weapons) but not the other way around. Rangers cannot dual class.

I always try to get a little variety but I always end up playing as an elf sword fighter/archer. I always fancy the name Alasdair Deagon for my elf, not very original but seems to roll off the tongue.
