But that is exactly what we're talking about, in their present state kobolds are just so much cannon fodder, if we can teach them, train them, and help them find a place in society where they will be content all will benefit, and you will see them walking up to Khelben "the blackstaff" Arunsen to discuss politics, and trade routes.
Perhaps even the issue of their evil god can be reconciled, for if he no longer represents them won't they re-invent him, if they believe he is a god of the kobold virtues (currently laziness and raiding) wouldn't he be forced to change when enough of his "children" believed in the same virtues that so much of the Realms follow?

I wonder who invented the name 'kobold' in the first time. Is it the name the kobolds use among themselves? Is it a bad translation of a kobold word? or is it some word 'invented' by the common speaking community of the so called civilized part of the world.
Has anyone asked the kobolds if that is the name they wanted to be known by. The name kobold has become a synonym to laziness and unprovoked violence during history. This derogatory name for theese kind of beings could end up destroying their new gained reputation (if you translate it directly from my native language it would be somethink like 'cow ball' (I thought it was the bull that had the balls - but time changes you know)). I will like to suggest a new word for those beings: 'Rats' would be appropriate I think Insane

Oh, and one other small thing...don't doubt your chances with Jahira. Yes, she travels with Khalid, but there is no indication that they are married...her affection towards him comes from their membership in that secret elitist group, the Harpers. Don't let the prejudice of the Faerun class system get you down... don't take their word for what your self image should be. Go for it! |

With this out of the way, I would dearly like to hear Mr. Baggins' put Lord Brass' concerns at rest, if he can. At the moment, the main parties involved are the KAK and the BYOB, and whilst the concerns of the different smaller movements are deserving of the same attention as the larger ones, I have yet to see the formation of any plan of approach from any of those others involved in the discussion. I realise this may well be because the opposition lacks the proper funds for research, which is why I will grant two thousand and five gold coins to any and all movements who provide a realistic, effective and humane plan to deal with the issue of the kobold. |

Make a reservation for all the kobolds, where they could live their own lives without interference from the so called civilized parts of the world. If they leave that place, it must be because they want to interfere with the other beings in the world (ie. to shoot arrows - and get chopped by the first adventuring hero they meet ). It will of course require some hard work to drive the kobolds together and place them in their new reservation. But I guess that a lot of the adventures of the sword coast would do that for little money (and XP). As a reservation I highly suggest the Firewind ruins (lock the doors and throw the keys away). Evaluation: Realistic: I guess it could be done. If we let the kobolds (and the adventures) know that there is a reward of killing kobolds outside the Firewind ruins of 7XP each head, I guess it will keep the kobolds where they are. Effective: With so many adventures on the sword coast I guess it will be effective. In 100 years none (ok - except maybe some elfs or dwarves) will remember what a kobold is (or was). Of course you have to throw the keys away for good (or maybe drop them into some erupting vulcano like some of the halflings do with their rings). Humane: Well - all we need is a natural 20 on our hit roll, whenever we meet a kobold outside the reservation. Quick and - 'humane'. Insane
