Has anyone heard any word on the next installment in the Might and Magic RPG series (Might and Magic IX)? I've played 6,7, and 8, and have been eagerly awaiting news of 9. However, I haven't been able to track down much information and the 3DO site has just a couple of pictures and nothing else. Any information would be MUCH appreciated!

I understood it was supposed to be ready by the end of the year. But 3DO's run into some serious money problems, what with an insane, megalomaniacal CEO who draws a huge salary, fires talented people, and now has only one calling card left: New World Computing, which he's pushed hard until their two best series were turned into cheap imitations of themselves. Several of their best people have now left. It remains to be seen when HOMM IV and MM 9 appear.

Thanks for the response, I've been desperate for information. It doesn't sound good for MM9- and it doesn't look like there's going to be another installment of the Wizardry series either. *sigh*. Well, if MM9 does ever hit the store shelves, I'll be a very happy camper!

I have seen release dates for this spring/summer. But the way 3DO operates don't count on it. I'm guessing they'll get Heros of M&M4 going before they push MM9. They are spending more than 1/2 their time on consol games and on-line games.
