help install problems

ok here is the deal I uninstalled BGII yesterday for no good reason (i must have been having a blond mommnet) now I can not get it to reinstall
When i insert disk1 it into my e-drive it does not show up as beign installed ( i checked drive is fine) when i insert it into d drive it shows up and the popup window comes up I click on install it starts to run the an error message shows up but does not say what the error is I click on the message and a second message comes up sayin gthat the system is not configured properly to allow install ( i have nt changed anything in the system) I click on that and a third message comes up saying I do nto have enough memmory to instal lthe game i checked i have 36.6 out of 40 g left avaiable
any ideas on how to fix this?

I think that is a problem that ya have to solve yaselve(i think)

you might try copying setup.exe to the folder that you'll install bg into, some of our computers at work have issues with installshield and can't install off the cd with some of the new stuff, other option is to write down any number code it gives you for the error and look up the code on the interplay site.

unfortunatly it does not give an error number I do nto know why it woudl be shielded it installed before and i have added nothing to the computer thank you for the suggestion though

Easy answer:

Format the drive and start again from scratch. *note, I will not be held responsible if you suddenly discover your windows cd is scratched or something*

Difficult answer - do a virus scan, and then see if you have a lot of background applications running, which may be eating your RAM. Then go through your startup files looking for any spyware or such that may be installed on your computer.

Me, id just backup my passwords and saves, and format the drive.

well before I reformatted I scaned the disk for viruses and all of a sudden it worked fine
