Laughing Out Loud Paul McCartney in Halifax..

..was excellent, as you might expect.

This was his only Canadian destination. He really knows how to put on an amazing show. There was a great mix of Beatles, Wings and newer stuff.

Sweet! I hope the weather was as great as the performance!

He's playing Fenway Park this summer, but I won't make it. I'm looking forward to The Beatles Rock band game too!

The weather was really good. It was a bit chilly. Of course it was midnight when he finished.

He played for 2 hours and 45 minutes, including the 2 encores. He also had our local Bag Pipe band on stage, for Mull of Kintyre, which was a double treat, because he does not play that song live.
He even had the Nova Scotia Tartan on the screen during the song. Very Cool!

There was a girl in the crowd, with sign, asking him to autograph her arm. He stopped at one point and commented that the sign was distracting him from remembering his lyrics. So, he got her on the stage, signed her arm and she gave everyone in the band a hung. Another very cool moment.

A few articles and picks:

McCartney autograph now a tattoo

Quote:
Paul McCartney's autograph is now permanently inked on a young fan's arm.

The former Beatle was about to launch into a song during his Halifax show on Saturday when something caught his eye: a sign reading "Will you sign my arm so I can get it tattooed?"

McCartney invited Audrey McCombs on stage and signed her arm as requested. McCombs made good on her promise once she got home to California.

"The tattoo guy was booked for like 5˝ months but my friend called in and told him the story and he's like, 'OK, I have to get her in,'" McCombs told CBC News Monday.
McCombs had the tattoo done Sunday afternoon.

McCombs said the tattooist wouldn't do the job unless they were listening to the Beatles.

"My friend had to go out. We waited, sat there in the chair for 20 minutes. My friend went out and got the Anthology One set."

Promoters say more than 50,000 people turned out for the McCartney concert — his only show in Canada this year.

Got a pipe and drum band? You just might get to play with Paul McCartney.

When members of the 78th Highlanders pipe band heard the rock legend was coming to Halifax, they contacted his representatives and offered to play Mull of Kintyre, should it be on the setlist.

The song, a 1977 hit by McCartney's band Wings, is a tribute to the Kintyre peninsula in Scotland.

McCartney duly invited the bagpipers and drummers on stage for his Nova Scotia show — giving a rare live performance of the song at his only appearance in Canada this year.

For the Halifax band, it meant taking part in rehearsals with the former Beatle.

Pipe Sgt. Bruce Gandy said during one rehearsal, he had to work up some courage to point out a small error in the handwritten musical score the band was working from, which had been given to them by the Peel police.

"We were looking at it saying 'I don't know, it's a C major, C sharp and we should be in D really. Is it the right note?'" Gandy said.

"It was one of those things. Do we look like fools asking the obvious question or do we do the right thing and ask the obvious question so we don't look like fools [on stage]?"

Quote:
One wrong note
Gandy and McCartney looked over the music together and agreed that one note was wrong. It was an opportunity for Gandy to ask for an autograph.

"It was just a really sleazy way to try to scoop an autograph from him but he said, 'No, absolutely.' So he wrote Paul McCartney and then he wrote, 'Get it right' as a joke."

After their performance Saturday night, Gandy and the other pipers watched the rest of the show near the front of the stage.

Gandy said they got loud cheers from a group of American visitors who follow McCartney on tour.

"They said, 'You guys have made this night for me,'" Gandy said. "And I thought, well thank goodness we really made the thing work well and didn't look like some cheesy Scottish gimmick."

Gandy hopes that his experience onstage with McCartney inspires young pipers. If you practise hard, he said, you never know what rewards are in store.

Sounds like a great concert, I have always liked his music. I was to young to be a proper fan of the Beatles but I always liked Wings his second band as a young lad.

So tell me, was there a one legged mad women in the audiance screaming poverty per chance Variol ?

There may well have been, but with 50,000 people there, it seems I missed her.

I think Paul did his best stuff with Wings. And I think Linda was the inspiration for his best stuff.

Kiss was here this weekend, doing an outdoor concert as well, but I did not go. The weather was lousy.
