JPGs are always a problem when you want transparency (sprites, cursors, icons etc.). You should prefer the png-format.
The circle can be exchanged in anything you like. I do not know the name of the respective file at the moment, but perhaps somebody else can tell. I am sure you can also find it yourself.

Ah yes, and welcome! Normally Manikus is welcoming everybody right away, maybe he overread your first post...

By the way, animated gifs are not supported yet. The only thing you can animate are small pictures (and certainly icons/sprites during combat). It is not yet possible to animate walls or background maps. It has only minor priority at the moment.

Is there a combat icon template? I have made a combat icon but it does not seem to work right.
the editor loads them ok but I can't see the whole image dring combat. I want to use them for a space ship fight.

these are 2 difrent versions of one fighter I edited by adding the guns/lasers to it and then resizeing for the editor.

Hiya Blitz! Welcome to Dungeon Craft.

Let's see, gif files are not supported and for the reasons that Dinonykos listed (lossiness) jpg files are not popular, though they are supported. Png files are the best way to go. I really don't know about avi files, as I haven't done anything with them yet.

Glad you got the overland maps figured out.

The file that controls the 'circle' on the overland map is AreaViewArt.png. As said above, you can make it anything you want, it just needs to be the same size - 16x16.

Icons - there are templates available in the downloads section at SourceForge. What you need to know is as follows:
there are two frames, named 'ready' and 'attack'. The ready frame is always on the left and the attack frame on the right. Both frames must be the same size, which must be a multiple of 48 [pixels]. The color at 0,0 is the transparent color.

I hope this helps.
