Winking The Lord of the Rings Trilogy

I dont have any news about these movies or the new Hobbit movie being made, I just wanted to talk about them. Like do you think the trilogy will last years like Star Wars did? Which LotR movie is your favorite, or did you not like any of them? I'm watchin The Return of the King as I type which prolly why I have the trilogy in my mind.

Now with all that said, I'm crazy about these. I'd be hardpressed to pick a favorite.

Hardpressed to pick a favorite? As am I, though I'd have to choose The Two Towers as my favorite movie. Just seemed the most deep part of the trilogy. About it standing the test of time... who knows. It might. Especially if the Hobbit is made.

How about a favorite scene?

For me, it has to be the scene where the elven archers come marching into Helm's Deep.

Five words can easily sum up the trilogy.

Good films, atrocious book adaptation.

I think atrocious is a bit harsh, to be entirely faithful to the books would have required 2-3x the time.

I think "The Scouring of the Shire" could easily be an entire 90 minute movie... ALL BY ITSELF. I think overally they did a great job of distilling the essence of LoTR into only 12 hours (Extended versions of course... is there anything else?).

FotR alone could have EASILY been broken into 3 full length movies (and not shorty 90 minute flicks either... 120+), one covering to Brie, one covering the escape from Brie through the fall of Gandalf in Moria, and one covering from the exit of Moria through the breaking of the Fellowship.

If anyone ever did a LoTR series with Jackson's attention to detail but this level of dedication to the books (Maybe 10 or so 120 minute segments)... I think I'd die happy.

ARE YOU LISTENING HBO?

My personal favorite is when the undead come pouring off the ship and swarm the orcs! And I agree the directors cuts are the only way to spend a glorious 12 hours...

I debated about making that number one. It's an awesome scene.
