i'm playing SoA for the second time right now, but i don't feel like doing the quests at the moment. i feel like killing monsters, taking their items, and building up experience. in the first BG game, you just go in the forests and stuff in between cities, but where do i find things to kill in SoA???
THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!

There are none. One of things I really miss in BG2. It was probably my favorite aspect of BG1; all the "pointless" boards, random encounters, and the easter eggs. Made the world feel really alive.

The Druid Grove and the Windspear Hills have a few encounters scattered about, but not much to write home about. Try wandering Athkathla's streets at night, eventually you'll run into some brigands or vampires.

The Temple Ruins are also a good place to get XP because it will keep periodically respawning shadows until you kill the Shade Lord.

That's about the best you're going to do, unless someone else knows something I don't.

Try resting in dungeons. The Windspear hills come to mind, and the beholder dungeons in Athkatla and the Underdark.

i know this is not appropriate with your mage's ability... yet.. but when you can summon monster like fiend, then you can attack it for more ex.

But do they give you XP? Summons do not give it, of that I am sure. But what about gated creatures?

Heh, I imagine my training session - Pit Fiends kicked on a regular basis

Wow! Why do I need quests then? Get SotM and the rest is resting and gating! So what is the difficulty of getting high levels?

Killing gated creatures over and over can get very boring, but there is nothing to stop you.

Although by the time you can summon gated creatures without the need for scrolls, you already are high-level.

Good point. The experience you gain is a lot less significant by the time you can cast Summon Caco/Fiend or gate.

It may be, but it is a sure, safe and easy way to level. Some of my friends prefer to do it like that!

Besides, I have heard that the behavior like this is called munchkinism or something alike. What is munchkin and what is the history of the word?
