Wanting someone to kill bin laden is very naughty ,as under article 10 of the universal declaration of human rights everyone has the right to a fair trial. haveing him killed undermines the whole reasons why this war is supposedly being fought.

Many people in America believe that it's okay to subvert the Rights given to us in our Constitution for our own convenience. And then believe that we can just go back to business as usual after the deeds are done. The big problem is that 2 of these people are George W. Bush and John Ashcroft.

It reminds me of a line spoken by stand-up comic Emo Philips, "Oh God, please bend the laws of the universe for my convenience.", but in the context of our Constitution.

That article 10 is a very nice thought but really, it means absolutely nothing. How will the UN force the US to respect article 10. As soon as a motion is passed in the General Assembly, it will be vetoed by the US in the Security Council! Plus, the UN has absolutely no powers whatsoever to enforce it's decisions. It's a big white elephant that's a waste of our tax dollars.

Why not, I hope to see Bin assassinated to but in the end, his suicide might be a much more viable option for the world so I would welcome it with open arms.

Unfortunately, everything, whether it is for good or ill, that is done in this world, is connected to money.

Actually, the motion was passed and agreed to by the US 50 years ago. And, as for the UN having no powers, well, we've already
been down this road in an earlier discussion. (see: What if Omsa Bin Laden seeks political asylum in Europe?). You'll note from that discussion that they UN has very real powers - which affect the wealthier nations a lot harder than the poorer ones.

And as for it being a big waste of your tax dollars - I hardly see how in light of the fact that the US is refusing to pay its full dues to the UN...

I'll start by the last point first: I'm not American. I'm Canadian!

Second, the UN has NO powers what-so-ever. For the UN to have real powers, we (as the world) need to do the following:

1- Get rid of the Security Council
2- Give the UN a military force capable of easilly crushing the strongest military force on the planet (China just in case some of you thought it might be the US)
3- All Nations to recongnize that the UN is a legitimate entity allowed to enforce it's rules within the national boundries of all it's signatories.
4- For all nations to base their foreign policies on the good of the world rather than the selfish interest of one (or few) country.
5- Have all nation pay their full dues to the UN with absolutely no exceptions.

Until all of the above is satisfied, the UN will remain a worthless piece of **** of an organisation whose nothing but a puppet!

BTW: don't even try to make me change my position on this.
