Well, is it?

I feel kinda awkward for asking such a thing but my hairdo looks like a disaster unless I completely cover my head after a shower til my hair goes dry. I want my hair to grow vertically negatively as opposed to vertically positively.

One might say that another more easy option would be to cut my hair. No, it simply is not an option.

Thanks

Instead of sleeping in a conventional bed, try suspending yourself from the ceiling by tying your hair around the light. Your hair should be taut throughout the night, stretching out all unwanted curl. Just a thought!

Get Scarlet Fever. Seriously. I had blonde curly hair untill the age of about 6, then caught scarlet fever and i've had dark brown, relatively straight hair ever scince. You have to put up with vomiting, fever, rash (over most of your body after which the skin flakes off) and hallucinations though. Up to you if its worth it... Not sure where you'd catch it, I certainly don't know where I caught it.

get a good hairdresser. amazing how someone who actually works with hair all the time can keep your hair looking the way you want.

I think you're out of luck. It's the genes, everything else is temporary.

Question Mark

Permanently? No. For a reasonable amount of time? Yes.

The reason for this is because as your hair grows, the protiens making up your hair shaft will be in their natural tightly-wound state, resulting in curly hair. Only by breaking the protein bonds and then resetting them into a looser configuration will your hair become straight.

You could visit a salon to have a straightening technique applied. If you are brave or adventurous, you can purchase your own non-professional straightening product (ThermalIonic is a good non-professional brand), get a bottle of straightening shampoo and/or conditioner, and invest in a good ceramic-plate straightening iron (don't use metal--it can scorch your hair, resulting in breakage); ceramic irons that also incorporate "negative ion" technology are the best.
