viscoelastic products (Memory Foam bedding)

I was wondering if any of you have experienced this technology. Are you using viscoelastic products like pillows or mattress covers? I know they feel great to be on, but how good are they, really?
Do they help you physically, like they brag about? I have trouble sleeping and my neck and shoulders are always feeling bad. I was considering this stuff but I cannot be wrong about it, for the cost of making a mistake is too high for chance.

So I come to you. Who out there on IW wants to convince me of this stuff?

We just bought a king size bed, so we were trying out many of the floor models at many stores. They have the mattresses you're referring to in most stores. Try one out if you like. They're not bad, but I don't think they're the miracle the commercials make them out to be. A "good" mattress that's big enough is what you need. Unfortunately, good ones go for around $1K USD once you have it delivered and buy all the accessories.

A store in the mall that sells odd stuff like that has a pillow (sized to my hieght) at $70.00. And that is only 1 pillow.

I think they're overrated as a single solution to a bed. We bought a King last year and spent quite a bit of time searching, we ended up with a Sealey that is a traditional mattress with a viscoelastic "pillow top". The combination gives us a very plush and conforming sleep surface underlayed with a reasonably firm mattress base (no back problems). There weren't any "memory foam" mattresses that we liked. (and we looked at a LOT of mattresses)

I seem to recall they weren't much cheaper than a good traditional mattress either. Ours went for $1500, there were VE mattresses cheaper and more expensive... a lot of money for a bunch of foam.

Ask about guarantee if you're interested. My wife worked for a chiropractor 'til May when she went back to school. We bought the contoured pillow for ourselves and I returned mine after several months for the larger model. They even give you your money back if you're not satisfied.
