That forest is better than Farcry, and its not hand placed by artists, its all generated! Freaking amazing.

THE best looking nature in a game to date.

The dungeons look a bit odd.. plasticy in a way.. may be the streaming..

I HATED the combat system in Morrowind, it was broken. yuck. hope they get it right this time, this game looks freaking amazing.

Hmm yeah. Bethesda was pissed about this video being released early. Pete Hines even went to say on the forums.

It was intended to help educate store managers and employees at their annual meeting. We're aware fans want to see it too. We do plan to release it on the web as well as through other avenues.

We did not plan to release it now, nor will we move up our timeframe because someone ripped and posted it. It's not up for debate.

Don't post links to where to get the DVD or screenshots of it. This was not done with our permission. You guys should know we don't allow that sort of thing for articles, screenshots, or anything else.

P.S. I guess it is ok to discuss the contents since this was shown at E3 and so people will stop PMing me to ask. So long as the threads don't degrade into people asking where to get it.

But for me, I'm waiting for my bro to get back to college so he can DL on his T1 line or whatever it is. 56k would be forever.

To be honest, Bethesda almost deserve this leak. Mr Hines starved me of information for too long! I bet they delay the announcement of the release date by another week now, just for revenge.

I guess a leak was inevitable with a game as hotly desired as this. Good work to Bethesda for keeping it under wraps for as long as they have. I'm downloading a few trailers now. Now that the cake's on the table, i can't resist pinching a few crumbs. I don't think it'll spoil my appetite without the icing...

I agree. Combat was indeed broken. From looking at the first of the demos, i think it's still going to be a case of "hit, miss, potion, hit, death, next". (If that makes any sense whatsoever!) Combining melee, magic and blocking under one combat mode is good, but far short of my expectations. No surprise really. It'll be a cold day before i get my way...
You're both being misleaded by the nature of the char in the demo. When the char gets hit by the Dremora, take notice of how much health he loses. What's that? YES he loses NOTHING. That's because all of his skills are ultrahigh and he has 10.000 HP (this has been confirmed by MrSmileyFaceDude).

The way combat works has been the first thing they've totally revamped. Instead of a dice deciding if you hit, it's the sword. If you see the sword hitting your opponent, you hit. Only damage is calculated by your skills and dice. Attacks are based on the way you move(like in daggerfall), you can perform power attacks too, but that costs a bit more. You can block with weapon or shield, and that's active. So if you don't hit that button, expect to be clobbered. Some of the devs have hinted at a finesse type of combat too; 'dodging' is supposed to be an acrobatics skill perk(if you get a highly enough acro score, you can dodge). The first thing I'm making is in fact a highly athletic fighter/assassin. Expect high kinetics and action in combat.

There were two problems with Morrowind: The combat system and the AI.

...Hurrah for Oblivion!

I don't get why they are all pissed... I mean, it's close to being released, they should start up the promotion engine NOW!

Same goes for Neverwinter Nights 2.. being so secretive.. not 1 screenshot. come on, give us something!

I'm also watching the development of 'The Witcher'. THAT game also looks great, and uses a totally recoded NWN Aurora engine--totally upgraded engine that looks amazing too.

So far, those 3 are the RPG's that I'll be making forums for, and playing

A big part of their Marketing Strategy with Oblivion has been secrecy. Its how they keep their audience on hold. With Oblivion, marketing is much stricter (Morrowind had set weekly updates, and a plethora of information). I think towards mid-october they will put a massive update. This way new fans will get hooked fast without the uber wait.

But I don't know.

Gotta say they did deserve that leak. Leaks get out within companies, nevermind when they are handed out to store managers, lol.

It does look great and I agree about the horrible, twitchy combat system in Morrowind. The AI was also a bit silly. It was one of them games that tried to do too much before it had the tech to do so properly. A pioneer of course.

As far as Neverwinter Nights 2 goes I doubt I'll be getting it. No real improvements, same obsolete engine, no z axis. When I read the dev interview it almost struck me as a revamped NWN's 1, and looks to be another cheap Bioware shot at raking in more cash. All I could really see was a graphical upgrade. They need to get with the times and take a leaf from Blizzards' book IMHO.
That said, after this I read nothing further about the game so they may well have announced new features I am unaware of.
