Basically, Velkyn can`t get to Ironworks.
BUT, it is strange because it doesn`t seem to be DNS:
He is wary about changing his DNS server settings (and I personally don`t blame him), and adding the line
24.129.133.61 www.ironworksforum.com #IWF
To his hosts.sam hasn`t worked.

Anyone got any other ideas to relieve him of this horrible curse ??

Rename hosts.sam to hosts . SAM stands for sample and the file provided is intended to show how its done. Just one more example of microsoft lunacy.

other than that, try pinging 24.129.133.61 and see if we have a infrastructure failure rather than DNS screwup.

Maybe his firewall or ISP is just plain screwed?

And maybe he should check for virusses. I used to have a virus that gave me problems with what stuff I could access on the web.

I had major problems too but LOA gave me the info on the DNS issue and now I have no problems.

What errors or symptoms is Velkyn having?

He explained it fully here - I would paraphrase it but I'm blonde... I haven't got a clue what it's about.

Two more? Thats what, 6 or 7 in the last month.

Oh well, if its the same problem, same fix, add the line lennon quoted to hosts.sam and rename to hosts .

Its strange that this should happen just after a DNS propogation though.

Thanks Mel, and yeah that was the error I was having. I know for a while that IW was down, but the other "page not found" errors seem to have been DNS related in my case.
