Ranger quest

I'm on the quest to stop the guys from cutting down the forest. Where is the mithril cache? I found both parts of the journal and the note, but I fear I discarded the mithril somehow. So if anyone can tell me where you find it maybe I can check and see if I can find it before I decide to kill all the forest destroyer guys. Thanks in advance.

I've seen this question asked at least twice in the forums, all old posts and no one has answered the question. I'm doing the ranger quest now and can't find any stash. Has ANYONE found it, and if so could you point the rest of us in the right direction?

Ok, I am replying to myself but I finally found the fracking mithril cache the pompous jerk was making me look for.. and for future reference, so the rest of the rangers out there don't spend hours looking, spoiler:

go to the forest where you defeated the shade lord, then go to the map screen. Put your cursor on the shadow altar.. then draw an imaginary 45 degree angle south-west until you reach the bottom of the map and click there. Send your party there and look in the column of rocks. The area that lights up is pretty big, so I don't know why it took me so long to find it. It's where all the skeletons are after you complete the shadow lord quest, so maybe I stayed away from the skeletons and neglected that area.
