He drinks only from a fountain or from sink. previously he was content with water in a little plastic bowl. The bowl is clean, the water too, yet he persists in drinking running water only. Do you have any ideas why?

It's in the genetics. They drank from streams in the wild. Many cats will jump up to drink when you run the water in the sink!

Choc loves chilled water now. We have a fridge that has filtered water, and it cools it I guess, and he LOVES it.

He also tries to jump into the shower when either Donna or I are in--then feels the mist, and baaaacks away.

Yeah I have a cat like that too. The only advice I can give you it to never ever let your cat drink running water, once they start they rarely want to go back to the bowl.

Too late Luvian, he became addicted to it monthes ago.

Thanks for the explanation. I guess that i will have to teach him how to open/close the valves now.

Or buy him a little fountain that constantly recirculates the water...

Yep I saw those fountains! Not only are they in pet stores over here, but even in grocery stores in the pet food aisle. It's perfect for cats who love running water (I had one 12 years ago).

My cat is the same way. When I get home from work, he jumps in the tub and meows until I turn the water on for him.

I have this fountain, but since that the purpose of this infernal feline is to torment me as frequently as he can, he drinks only from sink while i am home.

In my home there is only one boss-my cat. The rest are only refugees from streets.

Check how the cat likes a stream of urine. It may cure the habit!

If you make it either bowl water or no water, wouldn't he eventually get thirsty enough to drink from a bowl?
